Child Migration in Denmark
The key to retaining internationals

I know you like a bit of nuance in your immigration debate, so here's some more. I took at look at the figures for migration for children, using them as a proxy for international families.
In the case of families who are not fleeing political instability or war, there is relatively high emigration of families with preschoolers. (A guess: This could be due to the lack of family support needed when children are small. If your child is sick for more than two days, there are no grandparents to call on for childcare, for example.)
There is also relatively high emigration of families with high schoolers, especially when you consider that this age group spans only three years (16-18), compared to the longer ranges of the other two groups (preschooler and... schooler?)
If Denmark would like to increase net migration of international families, there needs to be a study into why families are moving at these times, and what would make Denmark more attractive as a place to settle with children.
